Four astronauts took off toward the ISS using a SpaceX rocket
On Thursday, SpaceX successfully launched a Falcon rocket from Kennedy Space Center, carrying four astronauts, including Sultan al-Neyadi, the first person from the Arab world to embark on a monthslong stay on the International Space Station, according to AP NEWS. The launch took place after midnight, with the rocket lighting up the night sky as it headed up the East Coast.
Nearly 80 spectators from the United Arab Emirates, including al-Neyadi’s family and colleagues, witnessed the historic launch from the site. As al-Neyadi is only the second Emirati to fly to space, his mission marks a significant milestone for the country’s space program and for Arab representation in space exploration. He will spend the next six months aboard the ISS, contributing to scientific research and furthering our understanding of space.
