If you also have your moments when you say that you had enough of this world and that you would move to another planet as soon as possible, it’s good to know that the renowned American astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has some bad news for you.

There are plenty of scientists and famous people who are optimistic that humanity will get to lay foot on the Red Planet and even build a colony there. The famous businessman Elon Musk is not the only one who thinks that. Jim Green, who’s a top scientist from NASA, even believes that humanity will colonize both of our neighboring planets, Mars and Venus.

But we all know that scientists often contradict each other, and that’s also the case this time.

Neil deGrasse Tyson believes that colonizing Mars is unlikely

SlashGear.com writes about an interview that Neil deGrasse Tyson had for Futurism, and the famous astrophysicist said it very clear about going to Mars:

I’m skeptical that you’ll find legions of people that will go there and want to stay.

Nobody will get to colonize the Red Planet, according to the same scientist, who said:

My read of history tells me, no. Not because I don’t want it to be so. I’m just a realist about this.

But what could the reasons be behind such a claim? deGrasse considers that the Red Planet is completely inhospitable to life as humans know it. Of course, he doesn’t rule out the possibility for any life forms to exist there.

Even if deGrasse Tyson is wrong and humanity will establish a colony on the Red Planet someday, we all have to realize that it could only be a scenario for the far future. Until that possible moment, perhaps we should all learn to take good care of our planet in a better way.
