If you take enough vitamins and supplements every day to protect your health, the chances are great that you’ll be enjoying a long life without serious health problems. Dr. Heather Moday, who’s also an immunologist, reveals for CNBC.com a list of four supplements that she takes every day and even recommends to her patients.

We all should take into account as seriously as possible the list revealed, as the doctor is very confident about the supplements. She even believes that our bodies will “thank us” if we give them the supplements every day. Therefore, check out the list:

1. Vitamin C

The appearance of Vitamin C in the list shouldn’t surprise anyone. Our bodies cannot naturally produce the vitamin, meaning that we have to take it from external sources. Vitamin C can speed up the healing of wounds, and it’s also a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. The benefits of the vitamin for our bodies are huge.

Taking Vitamin C 500 milligrams two times per day is a great start.

2. Vitamin D

The human body naturally produces Vitamin D if you spend enough time outdoors. Otherwise, you should seriously consider taking the vitamin in other ways and Vita Living has some good alternatives. Vitamin D can help a lot in tackling bacteria and viruses and can even reduce the chances of upper respiratory infections to kick in.

Dr. Moday recommends 1,000 to 2,000 international units of Vitamin D every day, taken along with a meal.

3. Zinc

Zinc is useful in fighting viruses, offering protection from free radical damage to the body’s cells, and more. The immunologist recommends taking 15 to 30 milligrams of zinc every day.

4. Curcumin

Curcumin is useful against multiple diseases, from autoimmunity to Alzheimer’s. Curcumin is able to block inflammatory cytokines that drive autoimmune disease, diabetes, and heart disease.

The recommendation is to take 1,000 milligrams of curcumin every day along with some food.
