If you still refuse to accept that robots are becoming more and more “human,” we have another big news for you. The famous billionaire Elon Musk believes that it’s possible to create a machine that will be able to download and use the personality and memories of a human, meaning exactly that stuff that makes a person unique from all the rest.
The idea could certainly trigger a huge wave of hostile reactions if it will ever be put into practice. Many groups of people are expected to invoke ethics in their attempt to oppose Elon Musk’s idea. But if a robot will work and become “fully human,” it will be another proof that sci-fi movies have become a reality.
“A different way of eternal life”
Humans have always had a problem with the idea of an ephemeral life that we all live. The idea that you’re still going to die someday regardless of how wealthy, smart, pretty, or famous you are, is certainly a very unpleasant thought. Therefore, there’s no wonder why there are numerous religions and myths promoting the faith in eternal life.
But Elon Musk’s view on eternal life might be totally different from the one of religions.
Insider reveals an interview held by Mathias Döpfner, who’s the CEO of Axel Springer, with the famous billionaire. When the CEO asked, “Could you imagine that one day we would be able to download our human brain capacity into an Optimus?,” referring to a robot introduced by Tesla in 2021, Musk responded: “I think it is possible.”
Döpfner continued by saying:
“Which would be a different way of eternal life, because we would download our personalities into a bot.”
Surprisingly or not, Musk agreed and even added:
“Yes, we could download the things that we believe make ourselves so unique. Now, of course, if you’re not in that body anymore, that is definitely going to be a difference, but as far as preserving our memories, our personality, I think we could do that.”
Let’s not forget that decades ago, some people predicted that far into the future, we’d be using little devices to see and communicate with another person who’s thousands of miles away from us. Nikola Tesla is one of those who predicted the existence of such devices, and the famous scientist died almost 80 years ago. We now call those devices ‘smartphones’, and there’s no telling how powerful they can still become. That’s just one example of how sci-fi movies become a reality, and it could happen again.
