The Wonders of Theanine

As human beings, we always want to improve and become better. It’s that desire that has driven us to make remarkable discoveries and inventions. One specific area many people want to improve is their mental ability and strength − we want to be smarter. Thankfully, we can now accomplish that and more, all thanks to theanine.

What’s theanine?

At its simplest form, theanine is an amino acid that’s usually found in some teas and mushrooms. Also called L-theanine, Theanine is very similar to glutamic acid which is synthesized naturally in the body. Glutamic acid is responsible for the transmission of nervous impulses in the central nervous system.

Theanine is considered a non-essential amino acid because, unlike glutamic acid, the body doesn’t naturally produce it. However, it has several other “non-essential” benefits that make it a must for everyone.

What about the body’s natural substances?

What exactly does theanine do?

  • Increases brain function: Theanine is a nootropic, which means it’s one of many substances that increase the brain’s function and output. There are many nootropics, and some of them act by increasing blood flow to the brain. While this is effective, direct stimulation of the neurons has a much stronger effect, which is what makes theanine so great.
  • Increases attention and focus: Besides making you smarter, theanine has also been shown to be effective in helping its users focus and pay more attention. It’s particularly useful in high-stress situations where you’re finding it harder and harder to pay attention to details.
  • Relaxation and stress relief: Speaking of high-stress situations, theanine is also very effective in reducing tension and anxiety. It does this by stimulating the production of Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA). GABA is a naturally occurring chemical in the body that basically stops neurons from firing too much in situations of restlessness and stress. By stimulating its production, theanine encourages the body to “calm itself down.”
  • Elevation of mood and behavior: Another naturally occurring chemical that theanine acts on is serotonin. Serotonin is also called the “happy hormone” and it regulates your mood, appetite, and social behavior. Even though there are no serotonin supplements, theanine is the next best thing because it promotes the production of this hormone.

How do I get theanine?

You can get theanine supplements in several online stores. However, you should be cautious of the stores where you buy theanine from because there are a lot of fake and substandard supplements, too. You should buy only from reliable suppliers. One way to know who’s reliable is to see if their products have a Certificate of Analysis (COA).

A good example is this vendor: https://www.zachattacksupplements.com/l-theanine-180-capsules-200mg-98-pure/

Theanine’s greatest attribute is that it directly influences both the brain and its neurotransmitters. From GABA to serotonin, and even glutamic acid, theanine inhibits and stimulates them, making it extremely effective in boosting brain power. It also reduces stress, anxiety, and other negative feelings. Combine all the wonderful benefits of theanine with the fact that you can get quality capsules fairly easily. You have one of the best supplements money can buy.

  1. I love how short and straight to the point this article is. I was fortunate enough to try theanine a while back and can confirm that all the benefits listed are true, I was more productive in that month that the entire year before that. Unfortunately, it’s almost impossible to find where I am and shipping costs to order online are crazy. I checked out the link you posted and the shipping fees cost more than the supplement itself lol. I’m still looking around to see if I can get it at a cheaper cost though; or at least with less shipping fees.
