T-Rex Fossil Was Found But It’s Not What You’d Expect

Do not think that a real life size T-Rex has just been uncovered and scientists are trying very hard to keep it away from our eyes. That, while fantastic in theory, is closer to Jurassic Park than it is to reality.  The real event is interesting on its own and we are more than happy to tell you all about it.

What happened?

Well, a group of paleontologists were excavating in the Hell Creek Formation. Here, they stumbled upon an amazing find: one of the best preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex skeletons that they have ever seen or heard of.

Finding such a fossil on its own is amazing enough but finding one that has managed to withstand the effects of time and preserve itself into such a pristine condition is even rarer. Do you not believe us? Well, listen to what Kyle Atkins-Weltman had to say about this. He stated that out of all the fossils that have ever been found regarding T-Rex there have only been around five that were in decent condition.

So, if you want to do a simple math equation to find out just how rare this find is, Atkins-Weltman beat you to it. He said that this is a 1 in a million type of specimen, showcasing how rare it truly is.

Who discovered it?

The man who found this fossil is Kris Super. He is an assistant student preparatory. He found this way back in 2016 but the team had little time to uncover the fossil and see what kind of dinosaur it was. In the following year they found out after uncovering the fossil that it was of a T-Rex that was around 6 years old when it dies. There are many more questions that need to be answered but, with this dinosaur fossil in such a good condition, perhaps they will be answered faster than we know.
