When was the last time you tried something just because it is all over social media?
We’ve been drinking coffee with milk since forever, so adding protein to our favourite beverage isn’t completely a new concept. Yet, there are some things you should know before trying a proffee.
We’re going to discuss up next the healthiest ways to mix coffee and protein and the benefits of drinking a proffee.
How to Add Protein to Your Coffee
Adding protein to your morning coffee, for example, shouldn’t follow a standard recipe. Of course, there are already a lot of recipes for proffee that you might want to try, but here are some tips:
- infuse your coffee with about 20-25gr of plant protein powder or blend it;
- mix coffee with pre-made protein shakes that’s no more than 30gr of protein/single-serve container;
- add two scoops of collagen to your coffee, and you’ll get 11gr of protein;
- add higher-protein plant milk or just milk; pea milk is also a great option; both offer up to 8gr of protein/ 8 ounces.
So, you can see that there are many recipes to try as long as you’re careful with how much protein you add. But, remember that it’s always a good idea to discuss it first with a nutritionist.
Drink Proffee to Reach Your Daily Nutrition Needs
As popular as proffee it could be, remember the role of protein and how much should you take daily.
Protein is necessary to supply the amino acids, those steady building blocks of protein – for the continuous healing, repair of protein tissues in your body. That includes enzymes, hormones, muscle, skin, hair, and immune cells, as well.
Let’s take active people, for instance. Their necessary daily protein intake is 1.2 to 2gr/kg of body weight. More stress means more healing, so we must increase the protein intake. But more isn’t always better.
If your proffee alone matches your protein target, just mix it with healthy sources of carbs and fat, such as fresh fruit or half an avocado.
