The Italian super sports cars manufacturer, Ferrari, will soon officially unveil all of the details of the new Ferrari 488 GTO, which may also be called 488 Speciale, the most powerful version of the Italian supercar. The Ferrari 488 GTO has been recently presented at an annual private meeting of Ferrari dealers.
A first picture of the car was made public on a Ferrari forum (the very same one you can see above).
Even though not many technical specs are revealed about the new 488 GTO, we know that the supercar will be propelled by a twin-turbo V8 engine that is also found on the Ferrari 488 Challenge racecars but modified to develop just 700 horsepower.
Italian engineers will also work on the exhaust of the model that promises to deliver a pronounced sound, as do the racecars when running on the circuit.
Other special features include a modified chassis frame to ensure a greater aerodynamic efficiency by 20% and the bumper and the hood will be made of carbon fiber.
Optionally, a set of carbon rims which are by 40% lighter than standard will also be available.
The future Ferrari 458 GTO/Speciale will also receive a 488 GTE-inspired rear diffuser, a new and top-of-the-line Sideslip Management System, an ultra-precise power steering, and a new shift gear algorithm.
According to preliminary information, the public premiere of the model will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, and it is considered that the new Ferrari 488 GTO will compete with the 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante which has been already launched since the 2017 and which is powered by a 5.2-liter V10 engine with 631 horsepower.
The price of the future Ferrari 488 GTO is estimated at around $300,000 which would be similar to the one of its possible competitor, the Lamborghini Huracan Performante, which costs a little more than $300,000 in its full-options variant.
Until more official details on Ferrari 488 GTO will be revealed, we can enjoy the photo that shows this supercar’s astonishing design.
