NASA’s Upcoming Mars Missions, The One’s to Fund Small Businesses for Research

A new opportunity for approximately 400 small businesses future owners has been created due to the upcoming missions on Mars powered by NASA. According to the officials, the company is seeking “an extra pair of trained eyes” that would provide plumbing fixtures, as well as AI-based medical assistants.

In addition to this, the company has announced an investment of about $51 million to approximately 312 small businesses present in the Washington DC area and a series of 44 other states. The financing was created to support the studies and development of these revolutionary technologies, which aim to enhance the exploration through Earth-based applications.

Six Washington states that businesses are already part of the recipients’ list of Phase I contracts powered by the Small Business Innovation Research program (SBIR). A couple more teams that include businesses and universities will soon receive the Phase I contracts part of the STR program. The contract is $125,000 worth and ranges from 6 months to 1 year. Additional support can be received during the follow-up SBIR phases, according to the performance of each business.

Which are the stat proposals which have already received the funds?

Jeeva Wireless, Seattle will develop protocols, as well as an ultra-low-power backscatter platform, which aims to synchronize the timestamping between sensors and a wireless hub correctly. The system will be used for future flight tests, health monitors, and many other applications where time synchronization is a crucial factor.

Off Planet Research, Lacey is the business that aims to develop a dustproof fitting which will be used for transporting gas and/or fluids from the Moon to Mars or possibly any other planet. The project comes in handy as far as ultra-cold regions of our natural satellite are concerned since it would provide leakproof plumbing fixtures, creating a safe environment to process hazardous chemicals, gas, or oil.
