Getting Fit When You Have No Motivation

As the spring draws in and we are all looking forward to a summer out in the sun; it is important for us all to consider ways in which we can bust out that summer body quickly. If you have wanted to get fit for some time but you are lacking the motivation and the concentration to do it; you’re not alone. Most of us struggle to fall into a healthy routine and maintain it and today we want to discuss some of the ways you can get fit and change your life for the better even when you struggle with motivation.

Make small changes

One of the best ways to make a change that will last is to make it little by little. A lot of us have a habit of going too big with our goals and immediately try to change our diet and exercise 5 times a week without any build up. Of course, for larger individuals a weight loss clinic with more extreme changes might be necessary however for most of us a huge shift like this is simply not sustainable. Consider instead of making massive changes to your life – make the change from white to brown bread; from rice to no rice; or from half a plate of meat to a third or a quarter. Make changes over time that your body can adapt to and this is more likely to stick.

Enjoy fresh air

Fresh air is one of the best ways to get fit without feeling like you are slogging it out at the gym. If you are hoping to get fit without the stress of the gym, get outdoors for a walk every day for at least 30 minutes and enjoy the air. This is a great way to get the heart going as well as to move your modules and keep you fit. It will help to boost your metabolism too so it should make a big difference to your health and well-being every day.

Take multivitamins

Getting fit is not only about getting to the gym at every chance you get; it is also about making sure you take care of your insides. This is where multivitamins come in. Taking a multivitamin tablet each day will ensure that your body is able to function at its best and it will prevent illnesses such as arthritis and central nervous system problems. One tablet can make a whole lot of difference to your body and it will give you more energy for workouts and staying fit.

Try an intensive shred routine

One way to try and get fit quickly if you don’t have the patience to stick to a 3 month plan is to try an intensive 2 week workout plan. 14 days is not that long and this is usually the average amount of time people are motivated before falling flat and back into old habits. Try taking the time to find a shred routine such as Chloe Ting’s and take 14 days out of your life to complete this. After the 2 weeks you will feel so much better and you will have lokely put on muscle and lost a few pounds as well. It is a great way to get a head start on your fitness goals and will make all the difference to you.

Keep photos on hand

Photos are the best way to motivate yourself if you are struggling to stay on track with your fitness goals. Whether it be progress photos of yourself or inspiration photos of someone you want to aim for – these need to be visible at all times. Set a photo as your lock screen on your phone, print one out and put it on the fridge… and allow yourself to remember and act on your goals every single day. It will make a hell of a difference and will make your life much easier.

Get fit together

One great way to beat that slump in motivation is to workout with your partner or a friend. By starting a fitness journey together you are much more likely to succeed because you will have someone there who will hold you accountable for your actions. Allow a loved one to workout with you and be with you every step of the way on your journey. Teamwork is so important if you struggle to motivate yourself and having someone else by your side will allow you both to benefit and be more likely to reach you goals in time for the summer.

Consider changing your habits

One of the most important things for you to do when trying to get fit is to change your habits for the better. Changing existing habits can often be the most challenging part of the journey but it is an important step to take towards a healthier you. If you currently drink or smoke regularly, consider reducing this habit in moderation and consider enjoying higher quality alcohol and tobacco products (delta 8 near me) instead of having a large quantity of cheaper stuff. If you can quit these habits altogether that is of course better, but for a lot of us a change this big simply isn’t on the cards. Consider taking small steps to make yourself healthier and you can use this to motivate yourself to do better.

Have a set routine

If you struggle to motivate yourself to work out, the best way to overcome this is to have a set workout routine to follow. The biggest mistake people make when they are starting on a health and fitness journey is to walk into the gym without a plan. There’s no point in going to the gym if you don’t have a work out in mind because all this will do is cause you to stand around for longer as you figure out which machines to use. Before you go for a workout, sit down and write down what you want to do and consider which part of the body you want to target. If you are targeting abs for example you might want to do exercises such as:

  • Bicycles
  • Spiderman planks
  • Mountain climbers
  • Russian twists
  • Hip dips

Once you have the moves you can set either a time limit or a number of reps. So for these you might want to complete 30 seconds or 30 reps. Having a routine to work to will make all the difference and will help you stay on track. If you don’t know how to create a workout schedule for yourself there are loads of resources online to look at.

Work out in the morning

If the main reason you aren’t getting fit is the fact that you talk yourself out of a workout – you should try this method. Many people say that the most effective way to stay fit is to work out first thing in the morning as you get out of bed. By rolling out of bed, putting on your gear and working out immediately you won’t give your mind the chance to make excuses and overall your workout experience will be better. By moving like this first thing in the morning you will release endorphins and adrenaline into the body and you will feel more alert and energised for the day ahead. It also means that your daily workout is done before you even have breakfast and you now have the rest of the day free to do what you want to do!

Try these tips and tricks this year to get fit even when you lack motivation.
