The Earth-cousin that was found 500 light-years away from Earth and is sharing certain similarities
The first exoplanet is Kepler 186f that resides in the constellation Cygnus. It was discovered 500 light-years further from us and it is close to the size as Earth. Because it is situated in the habitable zone around a dwarf star, the temperature is normal, liquid water existing on the surface, and the planet may even possess an atmosphere, stable climate and seasons similar to those we are already used. The surface consists of rocks also. A few years ago NASA confirmed this planet is the first that can sustain human life.
Non-living conditions on Mars
Gongjie Li, Georgia Tech Assistant Professor, and study co-author of the new exoplanet research states in The Astronomical Journal “That instability probably contributed to the decay of the Martian atmosphere and the evaporation of surface water,”. Over the ages, planet Mars has had a temperamental tilt that fluctuates by as much as 60 degrees. These substantial fluctuations may be the reason why Mars can no longer host life.
These two planets can be second Earth
The second exo-planet is Kepler 62f that is having a stable tilt. The tilt of Earth is balanced out with the help of other planets and the unique moon. But when it comes to the previously mentioned planets, it is not so obvious what keeps their tilt steady, either if they will need extra support to remain livable. Li affirms “We don’t know whether they possess moons, but our calculations show that even without satellites, the spin axes of Kepler-186f and 62f would have remained constant over tens of millions of years”. We haven’t got all the facts to assure they own all necessary conditions to maintain human existence, but as years are passing, they awake the fascination in more people.
