According to an article in the Financial Times, Elon Musk has filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman.

The lawsuit alleges that OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft, which is worth several billion dollars, has led to a compromise of the start-up’s original mission of creating AI systems that are intended to benefit humanity.

“OpenAI, Inc. has been transformed into a closed-source de facto subsidiary of the largest technology company in the world: Microsoft,” wrote Musk’s lawyers in a filing issued to a San Francisco court on Thursday.

“Under its new board, it is not just developing but is refining an AGI to maximise profits for Microsoft, rather than for the benefit of humanity.”

OpenAI declined to provide any comment. Elon Musk, one of the co-founders of OpenAI in 2015, was not immediately reachable for comment.

When it was established, OpenAI was a not-for-profit organization committed to building “artificial general intelligence” safely. AGI is an AI that can achieve the same level of intelligence as humans or even surpass it.

Musk made headlines not too long ago when it’s been reported that he is raising awareness about Julian Assange’s case.
