The vaping trend caught everyone’s attention, developing teams of overly concerned people and those who just don’t care. While lung damages linked to vaping continue to advance matters amongst doctors, many of us find it hard to understand vaping’s impacts on our teeth and mouth. Dentists, on the other hand, increase their concerns over the limit.

That’s because nicotine is the first component discovered in e-juices. While the quantities can differ among various products, e-juices also have chemicals. So, when blended and heated, the so-called juices becomes an aerosol that researchers explain how toxic can be for your teeth. Professor Mahmoud Rouabhia, an immunologist at the Laval University from Quebec City, stated that vaping “it is not harmless.” Rouabhia and his team have been examining the dental impact of vaping for some time now.

In their 2016 study, Rouabhia and his researchers used cells from a healthy mouth and exposed them to e-cigarettes or vape products. He believed back then that vaping would be much less dangerous than smoking. He found out instead that the vapor from e-cigarettes led to cell destruction in the gum tissue. Such a fact happened only after two exposures. The professor stated, “When we did that experiment, and we sat there was some damage or some strange effect of the electric cigarette, we moved on from a positive feeling to a negative feeling.”

He explained that it was not as dangerous as cigarette smoking, but it was indeed awful. Rouabhia added, “Cells are suffering. Gingival [gum] cells are suffering.” Heavy smokers can generate stained teeth and cavities linked to gum illnesses, as well as a covered tongue and even cancer, according to researchers. However, as the vaping trend expands, especially among the young generation, there are still more unknown things than solutions for its long-term health impacts.
