At the beginning of July, reports slowly showed that the number of cases of new daily infections with the SARS-CoV-2 virus was surging. By mid-July, several local authorities from different states declared that they were ready to introduce new restrictions if the number of daily cases continues to surge

Back to School season is almost here

To make matters worse, many parents wonder if schools will be able to cope with CDC’s new guidance for schools report. The new guidance outlines that unvaccinated people older than two years old should wear masks in public indoor places and in crowded places. Sources mention more details and rules that teachers, pupils and parents need to follow.

The U.S is the country with the highest number of new cases.

According to the World Health Organization, the U.S is the country with the highest number of new cases in the world in the last seven days. Sources compare the numbers with last year’s July, and there is a 131% increase. This means there are more than 540 000 new daily cases.

Why are there some many infections in the U.S?

It is mentioned that the current situation is happening because the Delta strain is now the dominant variant in the U.S. Another reason mentioned is that many U.S residents are reticent to get the Covid-19 vaccine, and reports state that the vaccination rate is 57.6 % in the country. For now, people 12 years old and up can choose between the PfizerBioNTech vaccine, the Moderna vaccine and Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The three different Covid-19 vaccines have proven their efficiency in several studies worldwide. Recently, President Biden announced that there might be new restrictions, such as wearing masks indoors, even if fully vaccinated.
