Let’s just say that Donald Trump and Facebook/Instagram have had a bit of a falling out. After the events of January 6th, 2021, where some individuals, let’s call them “enthusiastic fellows,” decided to take a little trip to the US Capitol, Meta decided that it would be best if Donald Trump took a little break from its social platforms.
The concern was that the former US President might post something that could incite even more…enthusiasm. So, Meta put him on a time-out. It was unclear when, or if, he’ll be allowed back on.
However, the light at the end of the tunnel seems to finally appear for Donald Trump, although he never seemed to be a big fan of social media.
Meta announces that Donald Trump will be back on social media
If you were missing to see the wacky haircut of Donald Trump on social media photos, we have great news for you. Meta has made the big announcement that it will reinstate the social media accounts of the former US President, which obviously means Instagram and Facebook.
The decision shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering Trump’s huge fanbase. Millions of people follow the famous businessman and politician on Instagram and Facebook.
However, Trump’s activity on social media platforms will be closely monitored. Here’s what Nick Clegg stated, the president of global affairs at Meta, as Reuters quotes:
In the event that Mr. Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.
Last year, Donald Trump made the big announcement that many of his fans had been waiting for: he will run once again for the Presidential Election in the US in 2024. Trump has been the president of the USA between 2017 and 2021.
