With the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, the Bavarian automaker improves the 2 Series portfolio and fill the gap opened up by the two-door 2 Series so far. The BMW Series 2 four-door coupe with front-wheel-drive will be launched in 2019. Meanwhile, new photos with the future BMW Series 2 Gran Coupe have been released as the car was caught during its winter testing.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (2019) closes the gap that opened up in 2014 when BMW presented 2 Series with its two-door. The Series 2 Gran Coupe received a four-door design analogous to the BMW 4 Series.

BMW Series 2 Gran Coupe has been caught winter testing

Near the Arctic Circle, in a complete winter landscape with snowy trees and icy roads, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe has been caught during its winter tests.

The sources confirmed that the new BMW, even though it is just a sedan, is also smoothly running on snowy and icy roads such as an X5. The new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe photos confirm the design and the car’s size which has been estimated at 4.5-meters long.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe features

The new BMW Series 2 Gran Coupe design won’t bring major improvements but as it is based on the UKL platform with front-wheel drive, the new BMW will come with an engine which will range from 102 to 224 hp. It is believed that the new model will be powered by a 2.0-Liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 8 automatic speeds. However, according to some rumors, the future BMW 2 Serie will also come with a 3.0-Liter 3-cylinder engine which will be available on the European market, only.

The front-wheel-drive concept offers not only a better space economy but also cost advantages. Thus, the more spacious future BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe can be offered at prices starting from an estimated of 24,000 euros, lower than the prices of the 3 Series which come with a rear-wheel drive.

For the more sophisticated buyers, the Bavarians will also offer the option of the xDrive four-wheel drive.
