Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatch Made Its Debut In Amsterdam

Recently, the Mercedes-Benz has launched the A-Class Hatch in Amsterdam. The US market will follow.

Design specifications

The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class gives the impression that we have to deal with the new CLS model but shorter. The front grille is hexagonal and presents the Mercedes-Benz emblem in the middle. The model also presents two vents with adjustable claps for enhanced model’s aerodynamics.

On the inside, the fourth-generation of A-Class introduces the new multimedia system developed by Mercedes Benz which was presented for the first time at CES.

The new MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) offers the ability to be controlled via the touchscreen or the touch buttons on the steering wheel. It also promises to be more friendly when it comes to recognizing voice commands, accessed through the “Hey Mercedes” password.

The system, thanks to artificial intelligence, promises to learn and become more ergonomic in its relationship with the driver.

The navigation system can be optionally ordered with augmented reality for an additional cost.

Technical specifications

The model has the semi-autonomous driving package.

The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is powered by brand new Mercedes-Benz engines. Therefore, the model will be available in the following variants:

  • Gas – 1.5-Liter four-cylinder engine which will offer up to 163 horsepower and 2.0-Liter four-cylinder engine which packs 220 horsepower;
  • Diesel – 1.4-Liter four-cylinder engine that will deliver up to 116 horsepower;

The standard model will come with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, while a 6-speed manual transmission will be only available for the variant powered by the gas 1.5-Liter engine.

The chassis specifications

At the chassis level, the new A-Class presents MacPherson suspensions on front and multi-link on the rear.

A-Class boasts a longer wheelbase of 30 mm compared to the old generations and the front axle comes with a 14 mm gauge. The 4Matic also received improvements, being equipped with an electro-mechanical clutch control.

Optionally, the model can be ordered with an electronically controlled active suspension that will be associated with the Dynamic Select System.
