Did you know that exercise is also essential for brain health? Recent research found that following an exercising routine improved both brain behavior and health, lowered toxicity, and buildup of proteins on the wall of the brain’s arteries, and boosted the brain’s growth and development.

While age and genetics are way outside of our control, the great news is that we can actually do something and put habits into place to avoid any neurological diseases and boost the overall health of our brain.

Curious to find out more?

Here are only just a few things you can try to boost your brain health backed by specialists.

Strength Training

As per a new study’s findings, people who took part in a strength training routine showed protection from degeneration in parts of the hippocampus (responsible for learning and memory) and benefits to cognitive performance.

And everything that participants did was to do 90 minutes of strength training exercises weekly, in two or three sessions. This routine was performed for six months.

So, a bit of strength training might not sound that bad after all!

It’s Aerobic Time!

Who doesn’t love some aerobic? This type of exercise can highly increase the oxygen to your brain to support neuroplasticity and neurogenesis.

Dr Marat Reyzelman, MD, a specialist in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology at Wellstar Health System, explains:

“[…] aerobic exercises such as running, walking briskly on a treadmill, rowing, swimming or riding a bike have more studies to support their possitive effects on brain health.”

Yoga

Yoga has always been an essential tool for lowering depression, anxiety, and stress! The reason?

Studies show that yoga can improve brain structure and function and highly boosting the function of the hippocampus. It also might help to lower age-related deteriorations in brain health.

Remember that an overall positive state of mind along with the proper exercising routine for you can do wonders for a lifetime!
