The multinational food corporation Mondelz Global has declared that it would voluntarily recall certain variants of the belVita Breakfast Sandwich items it manufactures. The products include two versions of belVita Breakfast Sandwiches, which are Cinnamon Brown Sugar with Dark Chocolate Creme and one with Vanilla Creme, respectively. Both of these flavors were distributed by the company. Also, these product types were offered for purchase in a selection of different-sized packets.
A statement was issued by the corporation, which read:
We became aware of this issue during an internal manufacturing inspection when we found the potential presence of peanut protein residue on the line used to make these products.
The items were made, and they were distributed around the country. According to a notification posted on the website of the United States Food and Drug Administration, these products are being recalled because it is possible that they contain peanuts that have not been declared due to cross-contact on a single production line.
This is definitely disappointing, and we should really be concerned in the future with such products!
Products that have been recalled should not be consumed by anyone who is allergic to or sensitive to peanuts. It is recommended to dispose of the items. Anyone can contact Mondelz Consumer Relations professionals Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET by calling 855-535-5948. This number is available 24/7 for anyone seeking further information regarding the recall.
According to the statement, there have been three complaints of suspected allergic responses that may be associated with these items so far, but none of these reactions have been proven. People who are allergic to peanuts or have a significant sensitivity to them are, without a doubt, at risk. By swallowing the items, they put themselves in danger of experiencing severe allergic responses, some of which might even be fatal.
