Only a few days ago employees from the Topeka Zoo in Kansas saw that one of their gorillas was acting strange and they rushed to help her. They immediately seized the fact that she was feeling ill and was probably very sick.

After the examination, the test results showed that the sick gorilla had ovarian cancer in a late stage. The disease has spread very fast in the poor animal’s body and this is why not even the surgery couldn’t save the gorilla.

The surgery took place yesterday and while performing it, the specialists realized the advanced stage of the disease. It is the reason why they decided not to interfere with the course of nature. They didn’t wake up the gorilla after they performed the surgery. Only four days later the animal passed away while all the Zoo employees and other people that loved her were just right beside her. They hoped that surgery could save her and even offer her a little more time to live, but during the very surgery they came to the realization that this thing isn’t going to happen.

The gorilla named Tiffany was loved by everyone at the Topeka Zoo, whether you’re an employee or a visitor you would have just be amazed by the charm of this adorable creature. The gorilla was even born at this very Zoo and this is why the employees were very attached to the animal. They grew up together since July 1968, the year in which Tiffany was brought to life. Except for four years, she lived her life at the Topeka Zoo.

Brendan Wiley, the director of the Zoo, said that even if they could’ve take out all the tissue that was severely destroyed because of the disease, they still couldn’t have saved to gorilla because not even chemotherapy works in this case. The director of the Zoo even claimed that the gorilla was a true “persona” that attracted attention with its gentle and adorable way of living.
