At a tiny New York zoo, April the giraffe has managed to bring a little calf into being and, thanks to a YouTube livestream, the pregnancy and birth of the adorable little baby giraffe has captured the attention of viewers from around the world.
The owners of the Animal Adventure Park do not know exactly how much money they have pulled from their April ventures, but market experts have estimated a sum of $150,000 has been hauled in. This money will be used for the benefit of the zoo’s upkeep, wildlife conservation in Africa territories and for the local children. According to the Zoo founder, this sum of money will permit the park to continue growing and improving and also help support efforts in Africa to improve the state of the wild giraffes.
Toys ‘R’ Us and sales
Toys ‘R’ Us has sponsored a YouTube stream with monetized text messages, a line of clothing, T-shirts, caps and fuzzy toys, and since it came online on the Feb. 32, it became the 2nd most-viewed livestream in YouTube history with more than 232 million views and 7.6 billion minutes of shared watch time.
However, some of the YouTube followers have voiced some grips when it came to the approach on the animal’s birth. It had a $5 charge to sing up for any news and a $1 charge in order to vote for the baby’s name. The park was also selling tote bags for $20, $16 T-shirts and a $50 three-pack of giraffe prints.
Toys ‘R’ Us has also been directing traffic to its own page on Facebook with exclusive video visits. On top of this, they will also be releasing a series of giraffe plush toys which are based on April’s family.
