Before technology and the knowledge about the fat in our bodies increased, there was only one way to get rid of unwanted stubborn fat and that was liposuction. Fat reductions have appealed to many people as an easier way to get rid of extra fat. Those that don’t or can’t really exercise turn to liposuction and other fat reducing treatments. People are leaning toward more non-invasive cosmetic procedures to limit health risks and recovery times.

There are various types of non-invasive cosmetic procedures, from cooling techniques to laser removal. There are many benefits that come with cosmetic surgery, including plastic surgery. From increasing self-esteem to solving health issues, many people seek out ways to alter their physical appearance.

You want to know which one is right for you and to do that you must think about the pros and cons of each method. Some methods have side effects while others can lead to serious injury. These treatments all have the same goal, though: to remove fat cells. They can be damaged in with either cooling or heating. Sometimes procedures call for radiofrequency or ultrasonic methods. Here is a list of the popular methods of eliminating fat that is non-surgical.

1. CoolSculpting

Coolsculpting has become a new way to remove the annoying fats on your body. This procedure freezes the fat cells to destroy them. Using controlled cooling with a paddle that is focused on smaller areas on the body. This procedure is for the stubborn areas of fat that just won’t go away no matter the amount of dieting or exercise.

This method of fat removal has become extremely popular and there are many worldwide clinics that specialize in coolsculpting. The technology behind this procedure helps freeze the fat cells off permanently. The time it takes depends on the area you want to get treated. Of course, smaller areas will take less time and vice versa.

Sometimes it is required that patients return for a second or third treatment. The side effects associated with CoolSculpting are tenderness, numbing, bruising and redness. Results aren’t typically noticeable until weeks after the treatment.

2. Vanquish

On the opposite end of coolsculpting is Vanquish, which destroys fat cells with heat rather than a cooling method. This procedure uses radiofrequency to target larger areas of the body. You can compare this cosmetic treatment to liposuction or Ultrashape as they both use radiofrequency or ultrasonic energy to get rid of the fat cells.

Vanquish treatments do not last long at all and could go for about an hour max. Sometimes patients have to return for more treatment due to the amount of skin and the time it takes to cover it. You also want to be sure that the fat cells are destroyed fully, so multiple treatments are required.

Recovery is little to none and patients can usually return back to their normal daily activities almost immediately. Treatment results are typically shown within 8-12 weeks after the procedure.

3. SculpSure

SculpSure is very similar to CoolSculpting in the fact that you are removing fat cells with heat instead of controlled cooling methods. This method simply heats the cells up until they are destroyed. This procedure stands as the quickest procedure amongst other non-invasive cosmetic treatments with a short time of 25 minutes. The only feeling patients may feel with this treatment is the warmth and tingling feeling when the fat cells are destroyed.

This procedure also targets smaller areas on the body. The laser goes deeper than just the surface fat cells and ensures that there is a natural appearance as a result. There aren’t many side effects to this procedure and there is no required time for recovery. Though you may experience swelling and stiffness, your results will begin to show within several weeks. There are times where patients have to return to get more treatments.

4. Kybella

Believe it or not, there are injections for fat removal. Kybella is a deoxycholic acid that naturally occurs in the body that helps break down fats. The acid that is injected into the patient is more artificial and help break down fat with contact. Kybella is FDA approved and is used often for fat reduction of the chin. This treatment consists of multiple injections and has common side effects, like :

  • Swelling
  • Numbness
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Facial weakness

This procedure has permanent results and those who have this procedure done understand that it will last against more weight gain. It tightens the skin and lifts the chin as the healing process begins. Those who aspire to look younger and want to get rid of their double chin should consider a short procedure like Kybella. This acid is made to be injected into small targeted areas on the body but is used by cosmetic surgeons for body contouring.

5. Zerona

Zerona is another laser heat based cosmetic treatment for the removal of fat cells. The interesting thing about Zerona is that it heats the fat cells up to destruction with a cool laser. This procedure is rather gentle when compared to others and the results are the least effective. This method of fat removal should be ideal for those who want to test it out and don’t want drastic changes.

Treatments for this method are frequently required. Multiple treatments are needed to complete the entire procedure and ensure that the fat cells have been destroyed completely. Most patients find themselves more comfortable during this treatment and after as side effects are rare.

This treatment is criticized by many because of the lack of results and many treatment specialists will tell you that results aren’t always noticeable. If they are noticeable, you will begin seeing them around 2 weeks.
