Many diets imply that by eating nuts, sex life in men can be enhanced by improving the sexual functions. Many studies claimed that nuts can help to achieve that, but is this scientifically accurate?
There were 83 subjects that participated in the new study, all men, all between 18 to 35 years old. They were divided into two groups. During 3 and a half months, one group was made to eat a regular ‘western-style diet’ which consisted of processed foods with high fat intake. They did not eat any nuts. The second group ate the same type of foods, but also ate 60 grams of nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, and almonds) every day.
Each subject completed two questionnaires, one at the beginning of the study and the other one after the 14 weeks. The survey comprised of questions about their sexual functions, such as libido, the quality of orgasm, among others. During this time, the scientists measured their levels of nitric oxide (NO) and E-selectin, the best indicators of ‘erectile endothelial function’ which lead to an erection.
Nuts Consumption Might Indeed Improve Sex Life In Men
The results of the study showed that the men that consumed nuts mentioned that their sexual desire and orgasms intensified, even though the nitric oxide and E-selectin levels of these men were not different from the others that did not consume nuts. In consequence, the men that ate nuts believed that their sexual functions increased, while there was no chemical confirmation for this. The nuts acted as a placebo for these subjects.
While this study does not show an increased sexual function in men thanks to nuts consumption, another study conducted by the same scientists demonstrated that nuts boosted the functions of sperm, such as number, vitality, and motility.
Also, pistachios were shown to help men with erectile dysfunction. Nuts also boost the blood flow, which can improve the erectile function. On that note, nuts have many health benefits, including better sex life in men.
