According to the Quebec Health Department, those women in Quebec who have opted for textured breast implants since 1995 are at higher risks of developing a specific type of cancer. The health officials in the province recommended the hospitals to contact all the women who received that kind of implant and explain to them about the symptoms of anaplastic large cell lymphoma which is one form of cancer.
Marie-Claude Lacasse, the representative of the Quebec Health Department, came out yesterday and said that the only approximately one in 30 women who received textured breast implants might develop anaplastic large cell lymphoma cancer form. However, it is mandatory to inform all those women who received that type of implant about the risks of cancer they’ve been exposed to.
The Quebec Health Department decided to take such an action after the emergence of a report from Health Canada, which stated that textured breast implants might boost the risks of cancer. More specifically, the risks of anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
Textured Breast Implants Might Boost Risks Of Cancer
According to the Quebec Health Department, more than 15,000 women have received textured breast implants since 1995. This type of implant possesses a more robust surface which adheres much easier to the tissues, as doctors report. The health officials also added that they would contact every woman who opted for such breast implants.
However, if one of those women feels pain, swelling or bumps, she should immediately visit a doctor for a more in-depth checkup. According to the Quebec Health Department, this form of cancer is treatable.
In short, textured breast implants might boost risks of cancer, as per a new report coming from Health Canada. The paperwork forced the Quebec Health Department to take action and call all the women in the province who received such breast implants to inform them about the potential risks of anaplastic large cell lymphoma.
