A new “wrinkle” has emerged in our health industry. Scientists have found a treatment that can cure cancer, but also it can make you see in the dark. How cool is that? Not only that, you can be cured, but you can also get some kind of superpowers. It’s called photodynamic – therapy; this means that the light is used to destroy the malign cells. After this treatment, patients can see in the dark.

Recent research showed that rhodopsin, a protein in our eyes that is sensitive to the light, reacts with chlorine, a photosensitive compound, a component of this type of cancer. However, this compound isn’t sensitive to infrared light. When injected with chlorine, retinal changes, and it will function just as it would be light.

Scientists know about this side effect, and I think that they will use it to find many ways to cure cancer. Together, the team used a molecular simulation of individual atoms to see the reaction.

Antonio Monari, a chemist, said: “For our simulation, we placed a virtual rhodopsin protein inserted in its lipid membrane in contact with several chlorins e6 molecules and water, or several tens of thousands of atoms.” This simulation was maintained for several months and ran thru many tests and calculations, but in real life, it would happen very fast.

After this simulation, scientists realized that this treatment could be used to help certain types of blindness. They also recommend not to use chlorine for your purpose, as you won’t get any superpowers, you will on get sick

A molecular simulation was used before when DNA lesions are getting repaired a lot faster than the others. I think this is a piece of excellent news and we can all enjoy it. I’m sure that scientists, doctors, chemists, are fighting with cancer, and I know that a cure for every type of cancer will be discovered. Maybe they will find one that has a flying side effect.
