One of the most important things we can do to protect our health and well-being is to stay on top of regular health checkups and screenings. These tests and exams help us detect problems early on when treatment is most likely successful. This blog post will discuss some of the most important checkups and tests you should never miss.

Hearing Tests

A licensed audiologist from trusted companies such as HearCanada typically performs hearing tests. There are two types of hearing tests: air conduction and bone conduction. Air conduction tests measure how well sound waves can travel through the air and into your inner ear. On the other hand, bone conduction tests measure how well vibrations are transmitted through the bones in your skull to your inner ear. Hearing tests are generally quick and painless. During an air test, you will be asked to sit in a soundproof room and wear headphones. The audiologist will then play a series of tones at different volumes and frequencies. You will be asked to indicate when you hear each tone.During a bone conduction test, you will also be seated in a soundproof room. However, a small device will be placed behind your ear instead of wearing headphones. This device will emit vibrations that travel through your skull and inner ear. You will again be asked to indicate when you hear each vibration.

Blood Pressure Test

A blood pressure test is a simple and painless test that measures the force of blood against your artery walls. The test is usually performed by a doctor, nurse, or other medical professionals. You will be asked to sit in a chair with your arm extended during the test. A cuff will then be placed around your arm and inflated. The cuff will temporarily help stop blood flow in your arteries. As the cuff is deflated, the doctor will listen for your pulse using a stethoscope.

The reading from a blood pressure test is given as two numbers, systolic and diastolic. Systolic pressure measures the force of blood against your artery walls when your heart is beating.
Diastolic pressure measures the force of blood against your artery walls when your heart is at rest. A normal blood pressure reading is typically less than 120 systolic and 80 diastolic. You may have high blood pressure if your reading is higher than this.

Cholesterol Test

A cholesterol test is a blood test that measures the cholesterol level in your blood. Cholesterol is a type of fat that is found in your blood. Too much cholesterol in your blood can lead to serious health problems like heart disease and stroke.A doctor or other medical professional usually performs the test. A small blood sample will be taken from your arm during the test. The blood will then be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Your cholesterol test results will be given as a total cholesterol level and an LDL level. Total cholesterol is the amount of all types of cholesterol in your blood. LDL stands for low-density lipoprotein. LDL is the “bad” type of cholesterol that can build up in your arteries and lead to health problems.
Health checkups and screenings are important for detecting problems early on. These tests are generally quick, painless, and easy to get done. Make sure to stay on top of your health by getting these checkups done regularly.
