You might want to keep down the lid of your toilet during the Coronavirus outbreak, according to a new report.
A group of researchers has discovered that the virus can spread via fecal matter.
How Can The Virus Reach Your House
It was already known that the virus could be spread by fecal-oral transmission, but the new research revealed that it could also be transmitted by “aerosolized feces.”
The research was published by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology.
You might be wondering why that would be a problem for you since you don’t ever come to contact with aerosolized feces.
However, the truth is painful and scary – Aerosolized feces can be propelled into the air you’re breathing by toilet plume, which is caused by toilet flushes.

The best way to avoid that is simple and most efficient – Close the lid of your toilet before flushing!
That solution was proposed by Dr. Qingyan Chen, a mechanical engineering professor from Purdue University. According to him, that solution can prevent 80% of the fecal particles from entering the air in your house.
It is indeed only partly safer, but it’s certainly better than nothing, and in times like these, every single bit of additional protection is welcome.
COVID-19 is no joke. You should take care of and protect yourself and your family as well as you can. Wash your hands frequently, avoid exiting your house if you don’t need to do so.
Don’t stock up on products that aren’t essential. People worldwide are hoarding toilet paper for no good reason. You should ration your goods and use them efficiently.
Also, don’t take medicine if you don’t need to (or it hasn’t been prescribed by a specialist).
