Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) has been released almost 5 years ago by Rockstar. The title represented the fifth installment in the GTA franchise and the most appreciated one, too. But how can the GTA 5 success be bad news for GTA 6?
The GTA 5 – A Story About Millions Of Copies Sold
According to the game’s statistics, Rockstar managed to sell 90 million GTA 5 copies by the end of 2017. In 2017 alone, GTA 5 was sold in more than 15 million copies.
And that in the conditions in which the GTA 5 sales slowed down since the end of 2015. Accordingly, in the first around 3 years upon its release, GTA 5 sold around 60 million copies.
These are huge figures even when compared to more modern games.
How can the GTA 5 success be bad news for GTA 6?
As the GTA 5 title is still scoring big sales on a yearly basis, Rockstar has no obvious reason why to accelerate the future GTA 6 developing process.
Not to mention the fact that GTA Online is also very successful and Rockstar still offers a huge support for it, with updates, DLCs, and so on.
Unfortunately, all these tend to back up the statements made by Michael Pachter, the greatest games market analyst, who said that GTA 6 will not be released before 2020.
However, in the meantime, some rumors on how GTA 6 will look like have already emerged on the Internet.
First, Leslie Benzies, the former president of Rockstar, declared before moving to found his own companies that the future GTA 6 will unite all the other titles’ cities in one big world in which players can travel from one city to another by driving, taking a train, or by plane.
Secondly, there are people who believe that the main character will be a woman this time and she will be played by Eva Mendes, the Hollywood star actress.
Until GTA 5 and GTA Online won’t lose some of the success they share today, there will be bad news for GTA 6 which will be late to appear. The best thing to do is to sit back and play GTA older titles while waiting for some official news.
