Overeaters Anonymous (OA) exists to support anyone who desires to stop eating compulsively. Though the 12-step program of recovery, members find hope and a new power to live, and to work towards or maintain a healthy body weight.
It’s never too late or too early to find OA. In this podcast, Isa shares her journey with OA, which she started at age 23. She has been involved for over 20 years and credits OA with how her life has blossomed since joining.
It’s often said in OA ‘come for the vanity; stay for the sanity.’ When first arriving to an OA meeting, many new members may first experience heightened concern about how they looked or concerns about the weight they have gained or lost.
However, having taken the first step by acknowledging how compulsive eating has greatly affected every aspect of their lives, and their own powerlessness to tackle it on their own, our members have found that the remaining 11 of the 12 steps of OA can bring about lasting change!
