Registered dietitian Amy Shapiro explains that “This green veggie is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. It acts as a skin antiseptic and actually helps to increase the flow of minerals from this plant to the cells in the skin. Basically, this increases oxygen to the skin and prevents aging.”
The expert also noted that this vegetable is high in vitamin A and vitamin C as well, both really powerful antioxidants able to fight off free radicals.
Finally, since it is high in calcium, it will keep your bones strong and healthy too!
Another expert dietician, Sydney Greene, shares that “Berries are potent sources of antioxidants that will scavenge free radicals. Free radicals are one component of aging and can contribute to things like sun spots, wrinkles, and dry/dull skin.”

Greene points out that “Avocado is an incredible source of vitamin E. Vitamin E functions as an antioxidant as well and can support skin health and decrease inflammation.”

Furthermore, the fatty acids avocados contain have all the fat and minerals your body needs to be kept nourished and maintain its healthy oil levels.

Furthermore, it is also high in carotenoids which, Shapiro says, “fight inflammation while also helping to protect the skin from sun damage, pollution, and environmental factors.”
Almonds are high in fiber and can help promote cognitive function later on in life.
“These nuts are high in vitamin E which helps repair skin damage. The fat helps to keep skin moist and resistant to UV rays which lead to external damage,” Shapiro also explains.
