You can feel young at any age! After all, isn’t it just a number?

Despite this fact of nature, it is no secret that society does not look kindly towards aging, especially once you turn 50.

  1. More protein!

Getting enough protein is crucial no matter your age but even more so later on in life.

Registered dietitian, Courtney D’Angelo says that “If you are not eating enough protein, chances are you are feeling lethargic, which could lead to joint pain, depression, and make you feel old. But, in order to feel younger after 50, you will want to adopt eating more protein as a habit. Protein has many benefits, including helping you to stay full longer, building lean muscle, shredding fat, and providing more energy throughout your day.”

  1. Eat vegetables with two of your daily meals at least!

In order to feel younger after the age of 50, you should make sure you eat enough fruits and veggies every day.

After all, they have many health benefits since they are rich in all kinds of nutrients and low in calories.

  1. Consume a variety of food types.

It can be really easy to stick to a meal routine but introducing some variety can be really beneficial.

Registered dietitian with The Consumer Mag, Janet Coleman, points out that “eating the same thing day in and day out can lead to weight gain and other health problems.”

  1. Less red meat!

It may taste delicious but unfortunately, red meat contributes to a variety of health issues, especially as we age.

  1. Eat smaller portions.

Instead of restricting yourself from eating all the tasty food you love and cutting them out completely, you should go for smaller portions.

Coleman mentions that “A lot of people tend to overeat when they are eating at home because they think they won’t notice if they take another bite or two. However, this can lead to overeating later on in the day when they aren’t looking at their meals closely enough or aren’t paying attention to their body’s signals.”
