Men have to be more careful with their sleep before vaccination
Getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for maintaining a healthy immune system and ensuring the body responds effectively to vaccines. Researchers have found that sleeping less than six hours the night before a vaccination may weaken the body’s response to the vaccine, especially when it comes to men.
Irwin, who is director of the Cousins Center for Psychoneuroimmunology and Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA, stated as CNN quotes:
If I was working with patients to give them a vaccination, I would inquire whether they’re having problems with sleep and whether they were sleep deprived the night before,
If they are, I would ask them to come back when they are fully rested.
The body needs to go through four stages of sleep, including a deep, slow-wave sleep, to restore itself on a cellular level and boost its immune response. It is recommended that adults get seven to eight hours of sleep per night to achieve restorative sleep. Sleep-deprived individuals should consider delaying their vaccination to ensure an optimal immune response.
