According to specialists, type 2 diabetes can be managed with a balanced diet and regular physical activity. But, researchers found out that those suffering from type 2 diabetes can prevent high blood sugar if they take a “superdrink” in the morning. It’s about the ordinary green tea, usually drank by people to maintain a healthy weight od detoxify their bodies.
According to Diabetes UK, green tea is an excellent drink for diabetics as it can prevent glycemia to rise. Additionally, this “superdrink” can also lower the risks of heart disease which is another common consequence of diabetes, along with weight gain and insulin sensitivity issues.
“We’ve known for years that tea is good for you. In fact, it’s often known as a ‘superdrink.’ Unfortunately for those of us who like a milky brew, the health benefits only come from black or green tea. No sugar, no milk, no herbal tea. Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance, which occurs when we stop being sensitive to insulin,” according to Diabetes UK.
Green tea is excellent in preventing high blood sugar in type 2 diabetes
“Not being sensitive to insulin means the pancreas has to produce more and more, which can destroy insulin-producing cells over time. Several studies have indicated that tea improves insulin sensitivity – as long as you don’t add milk,” Diabetes UK continues on its site.
Besides, both black and green tea are also great in balancing the blood pressure levels, while in those individuals without diabetes, drinking tea can lower the risks of diabetes development.
According to Diabetes UK, about five cups of black tea a day can prevent type 2 diabetes from developing. On the other hand, green tea is also an excellent ally in weight loss diets and body detoxification.
As many people can suffer from type 2 diabetes without even knowing it, you should consider consulting your doctor and undergo testings to know for sure.
