The disease of the century, cancer, continues to make a fuss no only when it comes to its symptoms, but also when we’re talking about possible treatments. It is very normal for people who suffer from cancer to look for alternative methods and hope that they might extend their life by using them, but recent studies show that combining these two isn’t really the best way to deal with cancer.

The study, which was recently published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, claims that people who suffer from cancer and choose to combine the treatments (traditional and alternative) might not only be increasing the death chances but almost double them.

After the study ended, the results showed that the survival chances of the people who chose surgery, chemotherapy and other traditional methods of cancer treatment were higher than the others, who were more likely to die within the next 5 years of their life.

The most surprising thing is the fact the 1 out of 3 people from America chooses to go with alternative medicine. Moreover, people are conscious of the fact that the traditional methods have had more satisfying results than the alternative medicine had in this case.

Cancer specialist, Skyler Johnson, said that, by doing this study, he managed to fill another chapter in the medical history. He even goes further and advice doctors to tell their patients about the risk of choosing the alternative medical ways. Unfortunately, herbs, diets, homeopathy and similar treatments are really effective.

James Yu, one of the study researchers, claimed that the scariest part of it all is the fact that young individuals or persons who had early cancer that could be treated more easily chose the alternative medical method and lost the battle against cancer when they could have been saved.

Thanks to this study, people will be aware of their choice without being subject to the various ineffective things regarding cancer they come across.
