Magic Mushrooms Could Lead to Great Results in Overcoming Depression

Contrary to what most people believe, a person suffering from depression doesn’t necessarily have to look and behave sadly all the time. Furthermore, depression is a lot more dangerous than people realize, as it can ruin a person’s passion for performing certain activities.

So how can we overcome depression? There are plenty of ways to do that, but they all require plenty of patience and effort. We can consider doing some physical exercises every day, eating healthy, and focusing on the positive things. But there’s at least one method that will surely leave you speechless, as it did with us.

The psilocybin drug of magic mushrooms is the key

According to USA TODAY, a recent study by the Imperial College of London claims that the magic mushroom’s drug psilocybin can grant long-term improvements for those suffering from depression. 60 people have participated in the new study, and their brains were scanned

An official statement of the study writes:

In both trials, the antidepressant response to psilocybin was rapid, sustained and correlated with decreases in fMRI brain network modularity, implying that psilocybin’s antidepressant action may depend on a global increase in brain network integration.

However, there’s no use opening the champagne just yet. Further studies are most likely needed to confirm that the drug in question is indeed efficient against depression. Another statement of the study says:

Psilocybin therapy shows antidepressant potential, but its therapeutic actions are not well understood.

Another interesting fact about depression, according to EverydayHealth, is that those suffering from the condition also have higher chances of dealing with autoimmune conditions like heart disease, diabetes, irritable bowel disease, and more.

In other words, you should never neglect depression and seek medical assistance as soon as possible if you develop symptoms.

The new research was published in Nature Medicine.
