Children Are Receiving Covid-19 Vaccines in These Countries

The Covid-19 pandemic continues to unfold, and in many countries, the Delta strain continues to cause a surge in daily new cases. At the same time, vaccination campaigns worldwide have different results. In several countries, people are still skeptical about getting their first dose, while in others, such as Israel, many could receive the fourth dose in some months to come. According to the Pfizer Company, children between 12 to 15 years old should receive one dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine. Those over 16 can receive two doses.

The U.K will begin the vaccine campaign for 12-15-year-olds; France, Denmark and Spain began the process

Health experts in the U.K have concluded that vaccinating the 12-15 age group against the Covid-19 virus will be beneficial and will prevent school disruption. The CMO, led by Prof Chris Whitty, declared that vaccinating that particular age group will help the country keep its schools open and that benefits outweigh risks. This would mean that one in eight of the total three million children in the U.K is eligible for a dose of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine. The NHS can offer two doses to children who are immunocompromised. The vaccination campaign will most likely start in schools.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) authorized the Pfizer BioNTech Covid019 vaccine for 12-15-year-old, and Denmark and Spain have already begun the vaccination campaign for that age group. Spain decided to modify the age group from 12-15 to 12-19-year-olds. In France, 66% of children between 12 to 17 have received a Pfizer dose, and in October, all those over 18 will have to show their proof of vaccination or a negative test if they want to go to the movies to museums or enter other facilities.

Germany’s top health experts approved the vaccine in June for children between 12 to 15 with severe health conditions to protect them from the Delta strain. And in August, all those over 12 became eligible. Norway will also offer one dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Sweden offers the vaccine to the 12-15 age group if the child is immunocompromised or has underlying health conditions.

The U.S and Canada started administering two Pfizer Covid-19 doses to children starting 12 years old after the Health regulators approved the vaccine for that age group.
