Dr Jerome Adams, the Trump administration surgeon general, transmitted a simple message for everybody who loves being free and hates mask-wearing, social distancing, and remote activities – Get vaccinated!

“More mitigation is coming. Whether it’s masking, or whether it’s closures or whether it’s your kids having to return to virtual learning, that is coming. And it’s coming because this pandemic is spiraling out of control yet again. And it’s spiraling out of control because we don’t have enough people vaccinated,” he said on Sunday, during CBS’ “Face the Nation.”

A CDC estimate suggests that only 49.1% of Americans have been completely vaccinated as of Sunday.

Unfortunately, that percentage is way too low to keep the Delta variant under control, as it is the most rapidly transmittable coronavirus strain ever discovered.

A study from Johns Hopkins University suggests that, in 48 states, the rate of new covid infections increased by over 10% compared to the week before.

The situation is even more alarming in 34 of those states, as the rate of new cases increased by over 50%.

Hospitals are getting swarmed by Covid-19 patients again, but, according to doctors from various states, the patients’ average age is way younger than before.

Dr Vivek Murthy, the current US Surgeon General, said:

“The thing that’s making this possible is the fact that we are dealing with the most transmissible version of Covid-19 that we’ve seen to date.”

Therefore, eligible Americans who want to say goodbye to mask-wearing and return to their pre-pandemic lives must pitch in and get vaccinated. That is the only way of going back to normality.
