One Step Closer To Freedom: China Makes Important Covid Policy Changes Following Massive Protests

This is definitely a victory for the people of China, who have been protesting for a while now and who have been standing up for their rights following years of draconian measures. The authorities took extreme measures in their zero covid policy fight, but now, following massive protests, things seem to be changing in favor of the people.

News in China about the covid policy

The other day, we were revealing that Reuters press agency notes the fact that China may announce 10 new covid management measures as early as Wednesday.

This is what two sources with knowledge of the matter told Reuters. Such measures, if given, will be supplementing the 20 measures unveiled in November that set off a wave of covid-easing steps across the nation.

China may eventually downgrade its management of covid 19 as a top-level Category A infectious disease to a less strict Category B disease as early as January. This is what the sources said on Monday.

China loosens the measures against covid 19

Now, China announced that they are loosening rules that curbed the spread of the virus but had hobbled the world’s second largest economy and sparked protests.

“The relaxation of rules, which include allowing infected people with mild or no symptoms to quarantine at home and dropping testing for people travelling within the country, are the strongest sign yet that Beijing is preparing its people to live with the disease,” according to the latest reports.

Some investors also welcomed the shift that could reinvigorate China’s “sagging economy” and currency and bolster global growth.

“This change of policy is a big step forward,” said Zhiwei Zhang, chief economist at Pinpoint Asset Management. “I expect China will fully reopen its border no later than mid 2023.” Make sure to stay tuned for more important news from all over the world.
