Covid Restrictions For Cruise Ship Industry, Extended By CDC

It’s been just revealed by the latest reports that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention extended into January restrictions on the cruise ship industry that were set to expire next week.

It’s also worth noting the fact that CDC cited concerns over the extremely contagious delta variant and breakthrough cases among vaccinated travelers.

It’s also worth noting the fact that the CDC has allowed cruise ships to operate with conditions since October 2020.

Cruise ships also require masks onboard and vaccinations or testing of passengers and crew. All this is among other safety precautions.

CNBC also made sure to highlight the fact that the CDC planned to lift the order by Nov. 1, but now, Monday’s extension will become a voluntary measure for cruise operators on Jan. 15.

“The procedures put in place to resume passenger operations have successfully averted overwhelming onboard medical facilities and burdening shoreside hospital resources.”

This is what the CDC said in a statement Monday. They continued and said:

“However, CDC decided to temporarily extend the Order due to the continued spread of the Delta variant.”

CDC in the news

Earlier today, we revealed that people who are immunocompromised could get the fourth covid jab. According to the online publication The Daily Wire, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said earlier this week that immunocompromised people could be eligible to receive a fourth dose of a covid vaccine.

The new guidance is reportedly applying to moderately or severely immunocompromised people – they also have to be people who have already received their original two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, as well as the third shot of one of those mRNA vaccines.

“In such situations, people who are moderately and severely immunocompromised may receive a total of four COVID-19 vaccine doses,” the CDC said.
