The novel coronavirus continues to make headlines all over the world after more outbreaks terrify people. It’s been just revealed that

China reported thousands of new local Covid-19 cases Sunday amid the worst outbreak in the country since Wuhan in early 2020, according to the National Health Commission (NHC).

It’s been revealed that the health officials said “2,125 cases were reported across 58 cities in 19 of 31 mainland provinces, marking the fourth consecutive day China reported more than 1,000 daily local cases.”

More than 10,000 cases have been reported since the latest outbreak began in early March, the NHC said.
“Saturday, the commission reported 3,122 local cases — the highest number of daily infections since the Wuhan outbreak and the first time new cases have exceeded 3,000 in a day.”

This is what the NHC data showed.

China adhered to a strict zero-covid policy

According to the official reports, throughout the pandemic, China has adhered to a strict zero-Covid policy.

It’s important to note the fact that this “aims to stamp out all outbreaks and chains of transmission using a combination of border controls, mass testing, quarantine procedures, and lockdowns.”

CNN noted that Major Apple supplier Foxconn announced it suspended its operations in Shenzhen to comply with Covid-19 restrictions in the city.

“The date of factory resumption is to be advised by the local government.”

This is what Foxconn said, adding “Due to our diversified production sites in China, we have adjusted the production line to minimize the potential impact.”

Vaccinated people and immunity

The other day, we revealed that a lot of vaccinated people have caught covid 19 in the Bay Area over the past few months, thanks to the highly infectious omicron variant, which infects vaccinated people much more easily than earlier strains.

SFGate notes the fact that this means tens of thousands of people are now protected by vaccination and recent infection, which confers the much-vaunted “natural immunity.”
