The coronavirus-related news continues. It’s been just revealed that all NYC municipal employees will be required to have the covid vaccine under a new mandate announced by Mayor de Blasio on Wednesday as The New York Post revealed.
The same online publication notes the fact that the city workers — including firefighters and cops — will have to get their first shot by Oct. 29, according to de Blasio.
The municipal workforce has to get vaccinated
It’s been also reported the fact that the uniformed correction officers have until Dec. 1 to receive their first jab.
It seems that this mandate specifies the fact that the city employees will receive an extra $500 in their paycheck as an incentive if they get their first vaccine dose through next week.
De Blasio said that unvaccinated employees will be placed on unpaid leave after the deadline mentioned above until they can show proof of vaccination to their supervisor.
Pat Lynch, the president of the Police Benevolent Association, has said the following:
“the COVID-19 vaccine is a medical decision that members must make in consultation with their own healthcare providers.”
NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea has said that he fully supports a mandate for police officers. To come to this conclusion, he said that the virus’ took a recent toll on cops.
“We lost three members last week, two of them to COVID, and I think it’s all unnecessary, to some degree. And I just, everyone I think, all across this country, really, should be embracing these vaccines.”
This is what Shea said Tuesday during an interview on NY1.
Pfizer vaccine under scrutiny
The Pfizer vaccine is under scrutiny these days, and some shocking information is getting out. These are about alleged deals with some country’s governments that Pfizer made.
Official notes reveal that this rapid proliferation of the vaccine, under contracts negotiated between the company and governments is surrounded by the following controversy:
“has unfolded behind a veil of strict secrecy, allowing for little public scrutiny of Pfizer’s burgeoning power, even as demand surges amid new negotiations for one of the world’s most sought-after products.”
