China is seeing massive amounts of covid new cases with each passing day. We have already revealed that the country managed to hit a new record of covid cases since the beginning of the pandemic.

China expands lockdowns

It’s been just revealed that the pandemic lockdowns are expanding across China, including in a city where factory workers clashed this week with police, as the number of COVID-19 cases hits a daily record.

“Residents of eight districts of Zhengzhou, home to 6.6 million people, were told to stay home for five days beginning Thursday except to buy food or get medical treatment. Daily mass testing was ordered in what the city government called a “war of annihilation” against the virus,” according to the latest reports.

It’s also important to note that according to the same article, while the number of cases and deaths is relatively low compared to the U.S. and other countries, China’s ruling Communist Party remains committed to a “zero-COVID” strategy that aims to isolate every case and eliminate the virus entirely.

Beijing covid infections

According to Medical Xpress, “more than 28,000 new infections were reported nationwide—nearing the record high since the pandemic began—with Guangdong province and the city of Chongqing logging over 16,000 and 6,300 cases, respectively, health authorities said.”

The same notes reveal the fact that there are new cases in Beijing that have also jumped in recent days, “more than doubling from 621 on Sunday to Tuesday’s 1,438—a pandemic record for the city.” Check out our previous article in order to learn more details.

CNBC notes that during the past few days, the daily case count has climbed to around or more than 28,000 — near levels seen in April during a stringent lockdown in Shanghai, according to CNBC calculations of Wind Information data. The figures showed the last time mainland China saw only a handful of daily infections was in June, shortly after Shanghai eased its restrictions.
