Just when everyone thought that we were finally getting past he coronavirus pandemic, things seemed to be getting worse with each passing day. Check out the latest reports coming from China.

CNBC just noted that China’s worst Covid-19 outbreak since the initial wave of the pandemic worsened Tuesday with a major factory city ordering production halts.

China’s situation gets worse

It’s been revealed that the recent outbreaks in 28 provinces have infected more than 15,000 people and stem primarily from the highly transmissible omicron variant, China’s National Health Commission said Tuesday, according to state media. China has 31 province-level regions.

According to the same reports, although the northern province of Jilin accounts for most of the cases, the latest outbreak has hit major cities, and this is terrible news. These include the financial center of Shanghai and the technology manufacturing hub Shenzhen.

It’s been also revealed that the fast-food chain Yum China reported that sales have been hurt by the outbreaks.

“Our operations are significantly impacted by the latest outbreaks and the tighter public health measures which resulted in a further reduction of social activities, traveling and consumption,” Yum China, which operates Pizza Hut and KFC in the country, announced Monday.

Omicron subvariant spreads like fire

Covid cases have risen dramatically in the U.K. in recent weeks. According to the latest reports coming from CNBC, Germany continues to mark record high daily infections with over 250,000 new cases a day.

“Elsewhere, France, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands are also seeing Covid infections start to rise again, aided and abetted by the relaxation of Covid measures and the spread of a new subvariant of omicron, known as BA.2.”

CNBC reveals that the covid cases are rising in Europe. It’s also important to mention the fact that we are seeing an increasing number being attributed to the prevalence of a “stealth” subvariant of the omicron strain.
