It’s been revealed that the Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker issues an executive order on Friday requiring all licensed daycare workers to get the covid vaccine or to submit to regular testing.
The Hill online publication notes that the licensed daycare center workers will be required to get the first covid vaccine shot by December 3 if they have not done this by now.
The second dose has to be administered by January 3, 2022.
Undergoing covid testing and vaccines mandate
According to the same noes, employees will start to undergo covid testing at a minimum weekly if they remain fully vaccinated by December 3.
The same online publication notes that the requirement applies to all 55,000 daycare center employees at all 2,872 licensed facilities in the state.
It’s been also revealed that Pritzker’s office noted in their announcement that the mandate was being made in order to protect children who were not yet authorized by the health agencies to receive the covid vaccine.
“Vaccinations offer life-saving protection for the people who receive them and make the community safer for the people who can’t – including the babies, toddlers, and young children not yet eligible for the vaccine.”
This is what Pritzker said in a statement.
“By extending vaccine-or-test requirements to those who work at licensed day care centers, we are adding another level of protection for our youngest residents and preventing outbreaks in daycare centers as more and more parents return to work.”
