More than one year has passed since our reality changed forever. The world as we used to know it seems a mere memory and our lives are now governed by the novel coronavirus and its terrible effects.
As we already reported, there are more and more variants of the virus popping up and the most severe one is, as you probably know by now, the Delta variant.
India Today online publication just revealed that Fauci said this past Sunday that more “pain and suffering” is on the horizon as Covid-19 cases climb again and officials plead with unvaccinated Americans to get their shots.
“So we’re looking, not, I believe, to lockdown, but we’re looking to some pain and suffering in the future because we’re seeing the cases go up, which is the reason why we keep saying over and over again, the solution to this is get vaccinated and this would not be happening.”
This is what Fauci said on ABC’s “This Week”.
Delta variant across the globe
It’s important to note the fact that Delta is the most transmissible variant of the novel virus which emerged in China at the end of 2019.
CNBC posted three charts that are showing how Delta is spreading all over the world. You can also check them out below.
“The virus itself, as it starts, is a dangerous virus, is a highly transmissible virus. The delta variant is even more so — it’s doubly more transmissible than the ancestral strain, it’s 50% more transmissible than the alpha strain,” Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, an epidemiologist and technical lead for Covid-19 at the WHO said not too long ago.
