You are probably aware of what’s been recently going on in Canada. Not too long ago, we revealed that Canada is being watched by the whole world these days, as massive protests are taking place for people’s freedom – they are fighting against the draconian covid measures and vaccine mandates.
Restricting funds flow
We also reported that the Canadian government for the first time invoked the Emergencies Act in a bid to restrict the flow of funds to truck drivers protesting the country’s covid 19 restrictions.
It’s important to note that under the act, the government can freeze bank accounts without going through the court system.
They can also take a number of other actions to force an end to the demonstrations.
“We are broadening the scope of Canada’s anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financial rules so they cover crowdfunding platforms and the payment providers they use.”
This is what Canada Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said during a press conference. Freeland, who also serves as finance minister, added these actions would also cover cryptocurrencies.
Now, it’s been revealed that the truckers resist following these drastic measures that Justin Trudeau proposed.
The latest in Canada
Now, it seems that the Canadian lawmakers voted Monday night to extend the emergency powers that police can invoke to quell any potential restart of blockades by those opposed to covid restrictions.
Lawmakers in the House of Commons voted 185 to 151 to affirm the powers.
NPR.org notes the following:
“Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said earlier that the powers were still needed despite police ending the occupation of the nation’s capital by truckers over the weekend and police ending border blockades before that.”
Twitter is fuming after this decision. Canadian expert dr. Jordan B. Peterson also had a few words to say about all this:
Canadians, you have no idea what was done today in the name of — what? Safety? Punishment? What’s the rationale, even hypothetically? The Emergency Act was reserved for events that threatened the very existence of the state. If you think that current events qualify, think again.

Lots of people hopped in the comments to support Peterson; some dismissed his case and said that Trudeau is right with his actions.
I support freedom, healthy dialogue, respect, pluralism, and reasonable measures being used to reach agreements and quell down anger. What Trudeau is doing is over the line and it is only fueled by him and his followers’ fears. Greetings from Honduras! We stand with freedom.
