The CDC has addressed rumors of possible mask mandates on public transportation and federal officials in response to COVID-19. According to a spokesperson for the agency, as of August 29th, hospital admissions related to COVID-19 are low in over 96% of the United States.

CDC still advises pro-vaccines

However, the CDC advises individuals such as transportation workers, travelers, passengers and others to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before traveling.

“Anyone may choose to wear a mask in crowded or poorly ventilated indoor areas, including on public transportation and in transportation hubs at any time,” the CDC spokesperson said.

According to a spokesperson, the agency currently has no active mandate regarding COVID-19, and the CDC’s recommendations are based on hospital admission rates. Despite some hospitals and offices reinstating mask mandates, the CDC has not discussed bringing them back. There have been rumors of federal officials considering mandates or lockdowns, but the CDC has not updated its guidelines on mask mandates. A recent report from InfoWars claimed that a TSA official, who remained unnamed, said that mandates and lockdowns would return in the fall based on discussions among agency officials.

However, a spokesperson for the TSA told The Epoch Times on Aug. 25 that those claims are false and that the agency “does not have any new requirements and there has not been any meeting on the topic.”

While the “TSA has authority to impose mask-related requirements to implement mask orders from the CDC related to transportation systems,” the “TSA is not imposing mask-related requirements at this time,” the agency stated.

According to a spokesperson for the CDC named Benjamin Haynes, reports of impending lockdowns are completely untrue.

CDC data shows that COVID-19 hospitalizations have been increasing nationwide in recent weeks, but it is still among the lowest levels of hospitalization seen since the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020.
