Breakfast is one of the most important meals of a day. Even more, a recent Israeli study revealed that you can lose weight and keep type 2 diabetes under control by eating healthy breakfast daily.

The importance of a healthy breakfast

Once you have waked up, the ideal way to start your day is to have breakfast because the body needs ‘fuel’ to properly start the day.

The body needs nutrients to function properly and to maintain a healthy weight, thus depriving it of food in the morning, it will eventually turn into dysfunctions.

What you eat at breakfast plays a fundamental role, too. Therefore, you should avoid foods rich in fats and carbohydrates. Ideally, you must opt for the healthiest and a complete breakfast by mixing fruits, vegetables, dairy products, fresh juices, tea, cereals, or dried fruits.

When you skip breakfast because you think it will help you lose weight, you’re doing a big mistake. In fact, skipping the first meal of the day will make you feel hungry more than normal because your body will keep demanding the ‘fuel’ it needs to function.

Besides, you will feel weak due to the lack of energy and, also, your metabolism will start slowing down, thus, the fats will be stored in your body’s tissues instead of being used for energy.

The Israeli researchers have observed that the participants who have eaten breakfast regularly presented normal weight and healthier metabolism in comparison to people who were frequently skipping breakfast.

Besides, eating breakfast on a daily basis has been proven to keep the blood glucose levels within normal ranges, being beneficial for type 2 diabetes patients.

“An eating routine with sufficient meal timing and recurrence has a vital part in glucose control and weight loss,” explained Daniela Jakubowicz, a professor at the Tel Aviv University and the study’s leading author.

The study’s authors concluded that, without doubt, people can lose weight and keep type 2 diabetes under control by eating healthy breakfast daily.
