There are many benefits of eating breakfast, including helping you lose weight. The key to a healthy, protein-rich breakfast is variety. The more choices you have in the morning, the more likely you are to find something healthy and satisfying to eat. One day, for example, you may want a whole-grain bagel with peanut butter; another day, an egg white and cheese omelet; or even a fiber-rich muffin.

Here are some high-protein breakfast ideas to help you lose weight:

1. Yogurt and berries

Yogurt and berries is a classic combination that is easy to digest and offers a nice mix of carbohydrates and protein. A typical serving of yogurt has about 8 grams of protein, while raspberries have about 4 grams per 1/2 cup (or 1 cup of blueberries) serving.

2. Egg white scramble with veggies

Egg whites offer about 7 grams of lean protein in one large egg white; plus eggs are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants. Add some chopped veggies to the eggs for added flavor and texture. Try mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach or onions — they all have fewer than 5 grams of carbs per cup serving!

3. Greek Yogurt Parfait

Greek yogurt is a good source of protein and calcium, and it’s usually lower in calories than regular yogurt. A parfait with granola and Greek yogurt gives you energy as well as good nutrition. You can add fresh fruit or even a little honey for sweetness without adding extra sugar or unhealthy carbohydrates. The fresh taste of this simple parfait can wake up your taste buds and kick-start your day.

4. Peanut butter on whole-wheat toast

Peanut butter is a great source of protein, and it’s easy to add to any breakfast food. Spread a few tablespoons on whole wheat toast or an English muffin and you’ve got yourself a healthy breakfast.
