The Ford GT’s lap record on Virginia Internationa Raceway lasted only for one week as the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 beat it by 1.37 seconds.

The Ford ‘accidentally’ set the new record

The previous record on Virginia International Raceway was set in 2015 by the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR which ran the circuit in 2:40.02. Last week, when Ford stated it just wanted to test their new GT’s performances in circuit conditions, the Ford GT ‘accidentally’ set a new record as it finished a lap in 2:38.68.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 beat Ford’s record a few days ago

The Ford GT’s record lasted for only one week as the upcoming 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 set a new lap record on Virginia Internation Raceway.

Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 finished the lap in 2:37.25 which beat the last record by 1.37 seconds. Ironically, the Chevy team stated that their new Corvette was also running a few testing laps with no interest in smashing the Ford GT’s record. “It just happened,” said Chevy team.

The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 features

ZR1 comes refined, stronger, with a giant slingshot and a maximum speed of 22 Mph.

The official presentation took place at the Dubai Motor Show and the car will arrive in the showrooms in the spring, and manufacturers hope to produce 2,000-3,000 units at the Bowling Green Plant in Kentucky, but production will not stop here if there is a demand.

The new coupe is propelled by a 6.2-Liter V8 engine, rated at 755 hp.

The new coupe will be followed by a convertible 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

How much will cost the new 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1?

Chevrolet has announced the starting prices of its new road-beasts:

Starting from $120,000 for the Coupe version;

Starting from $124,000 for the Convertible version;

However, there are rumors that for the full carbon fiber package the costs will increase by $15,000 to the initial price.

Meanwhile, the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 set the lap record on Virginia International Raceway which announced that the new supercar will be very fast and powerful.
